Meeneembelg front

This is a response to one of my posts from yesteryear concerning the status of our indigenous food culture.

So, my basic complaint was that the food we eat at home, is scarcely commercially available.
Well, there is improvement. A local eatery called “De Meeneembelg” has opened recently and is serving dishes that are very very belgian.

It’s basically a take-away, with seating if you are too hungry and can’t wait to get home to eat your food. We have done the take-away thing once, and the food was excellent. As close as you can get to actually cooking it yourself, and the price is very democratic.

For those in the area of Kessel-Lo ( K-Zoo crew baby yeah ! erm…never mind ) check out their site.

I am missing such places as well, especially since I’ve been to Poland where they have something like “Bar Mleczny” (Dairy Bar) which is exactly what you are talking about: normal local dishes at very democratic prices (not exactly take-away, but it’s fast). It’s a remnant of communism typical for Poland, one of the good things that communism brought… And a very good way to taste the local cuisine.
